RE: HELP!!! Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error
I have the exact same problem with my Windows XP Home ver. I was about to go
out and buy the Pro ver. to see if that would fix it - won't now thanks to
you. I have tried many things to try to fix it. Repair re-install, Upgrade
re-install, removing program by program to see if it would go away, etc. All
failed to help the problem. I ran a special Virus program (www.free-av.com)
from Germany that I was told would find problems when other more popular
progs wouldn't. I finally totally erased everything - wrote "zeros" and
installed a new op sys. Everything went well putting programs back until the
very end when the problem returned. I gave up at that point and am searching
for an answer like you are. Let me know if you find a solution and I will
you if I do. Thanks!

RE: HELP!!! Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error
Dear Jay:
After spending much time plowing through all the messages about "runtime
errors" I discovered the one that really helped me - I was using a program
named "Free Download Manager" that was discovered to cause the problems we
are experiencing. I removed it and the problem was solved. I don't know
what caused it to be a problem since I have been using it for sometime
without any problems but whatever happened to corrupt it and turn it into a
destructive program can happen any time so I will not use it any longer. If
you do a search on "explorer - runtime errors" in the TechNet group we are
using, you will find many references to this program causing this error.
Hope this helps you like it has me! Good Luck!

Jay:
I wrote you a long note about where to find an answer and then discovered
that it was you when I went back to check the source. You have been a
welcome source to the solution I needed. Thanks again!

I just used your reply to Jay about the explorer.exe crashing on file open -
that uninstalling Free Download Manager solved the problem. Thank you for the
tip.

Re: HELP!!! Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error
I also had the similar problem. The solution of uninstalling FDM works.
Thanks
