There are no active mixer devices available ...
I am having Windows XP Pro SP2. I am facing problem with sound drivers here. It looks the audio just completely stopped working. The drivers are corrupt here. When I go in Device Manager I can found all drivers installed. There is no error at all related to any audio device. But when I try to adjust the volume I am getting a error that no active mixer device available. I am not able to find anything here. What should I do here.

I think the onboard sound chip is having any problem. It is necessary that you must carry the board to your nearest service center. You will get a replacement if the motherboard is under warranty. Or else another thing you can do is simply use a sound card. That will be far more helpful in dealing with the issue you are facing.

I got the same issue on my Gigabyte board. The sound chip failed to work. As my board warranty was already over the only last option left was to buy a pci sound card. I added that to my system and updated the drivers. After that things went back to normal. The audio is working. Pci sound card is more cheaper in the market and there are ample of models available.
