corrupted registry, endless boot loop, no recovery console
have a server with windows xp and windows server 2003 installed
it appears the registry has been corrupted, the recovery console was not
installed, and the only backup was on a tape drive installed in the server
the server is now caught in an endless boot loop and if the automatic
shutdown is turned off, the error message says:
STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The Non-DLL file included in known DLL
list. system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000036f
(0xe164dca8 0x00000000). The system has been shut down.
so it looks like a non driver (DLL) file is in a known driver (DLL) list in
the registry, corrupting it
how can this be fixed?
Re: corrupted registry, endless boot loop, no recovery console
Painful though this might be, you should be able to boot from your original
CD, rerun Setup, and have it repair the Windows installation in question.
This will of course set you back to the version that you have on CD, so
making sure that this system is not Internet-visible is advisable, and you
will need to reinstall whatever patches or service packs have become
available for said OS.

Re: corrupted registry, endless boot loop, no recovery console
Hi Effi,
Please boot from the W2k3 CD and boot into Recovery Console.
Try:
chkdsk c: /f
(Assuming that C: is your system drive).
I'm not sure if SFC command works in recovery console, but you can try
doing:
sfc /scannow
(to scan for DLL files and make sure that they are in working/valid).
If SFC doesn't work, your last resort would be doing a reinstallation of
Windows 2003 (from the W2k3 CD).
You might also want to try the suggestions offered here:

Hope this helps.
