watching streaming video makes firefox to consume more RAM
I have installed the latest Firefox browser in my system. I have noticed that when I am watching any streaming video from youtube or some other websites for more then 2 hours then Firefox consumes too much RAM and to solve this issue I have to completely exit Firefox to recover the RAM. I have seen then Task Manager as well that the RAM is cosuming about 2 mb per second. Can anyone tell me how do I solve this issue. Thank you
Re: watching streaming video makes firefox to consume more RAM
Can you try to open Firefox in Safe Mode and check if it is still consuming too much RAM. To open firefox in safe mode click on Start and then in the Search box type one of the below command and the press Enter key:
- firefox -safe-mode
- "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode
- "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode
If the problem still persists then try to restart firefox with add-ons disabled and then test the browser.
Re: watching streaming video makes firefox to consume more RAM
I was also facing this same problem and to some extent I have narrowed down the problem. I went into the Extension area in Firefox and then found a extension called IDM CC from a software Internet Download Manager and disabled it. Now the excessive RAM usage has been limited to some extent. So, I am thinking that if some developer of Firefox can work on this issue with IDM then the problem will definitely get resolved.
Re: watching streaming video makes firefox to consume more RAM
Can you try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox browser and see if that helps. To disable hardware acceleration, open Firefox and then go to Tools > Options > Advanced > General > and browse to "Use hardware acceleration when available". After that restart your computer in Windows Safe Mode with networking support and then test the firefox browser by streaming an online video from youtube. Report back if you are facing this problem.
