Installing Office 2003 in Windows 8
I am running Office 2003 on my Windows 7 PC for quite some time and there were few issues even though the office suite used to work. I am now going to upgrade to Windows 8 OS but when I read the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant then it tells me that Microsoft Office 2003 is not compatible with it. I have read some methods where we can use Office 2003 on Windows 8 but which feature wont be supported? Any ideas

You can try to install Office 2003 in Windows 8 in Compatibility mode but I am not sure if it will work or not. First you need to right click on the setup.exe file and then click on Troubleshoot Compatibility. After that choose a version of Windows Office 2000 is compatibility with and then try Windows XP SP3. You will get problems with Outlook saving passwords. If it is not working then you will need to upgrade to Office 2010 or the new Office 2013 version of the suite.
Re: Installing Office 2003 in Windows 8
After searching on the Microsoft Compatability list, I have found that Microsoft Office 2003 Professional is compatible with Windows 8.1. This Office version is showing as compatible but with the upgrade of the OS. So, first you will need to upgrade your Windows 8 to 8.1 and then install this office application. To do the update you need to go to Windows Store and then search and click on the Windows 8.1 upgrade available for your computer.
Re: Installing Office 2003 in Windows 8
I can confirm that Office 2003 Professional is working fine in my Windows 8 Pro machine. I dont know why microsoft is telling people that it is not compatible. I can easily open Word, Powerpoint, Outlook and Excel and they all seems to be working fine. I even installed the Service Pack 3 for office 2003 with the automatic updates. I guess that the old version of Office 2000 and Office XP will not work in Windows 8, so who cares.
