Adobe Photoshop Future Versions Wont Support Windows XP
Photoshop CS6 will be the last version of the famous image editing tool from Adobe which will operate on Windows XP.
Future versions of Photoshop will no longer be supported for Windows XP, as per the announcement made by Adobe, the publisher of this famous image editing software. Insofar, the current Photoshop CS6 is already guaranteed that it will not support Windows Vista, it will therefore be imperative to turn to either Windows 7 or Windows 8 to ensure the proper functioning of Photoshop CS7 and its successors.
"We encourage all customers who are currently using Windows XP to begin making their migration plans now so they can fully take advantage of future Photoshop innovations as soon as they are available," explains Tom Hogarty, product manager at Adobe, through one of the blogs of the publisher. He also pointed out that some of the advanced features of Photoshop CS6, especially related to 3D or filters dedicated to the management of light, are not certified for Windows XP.
Although Photoshop CS7 is not supposed to be released before 2014 (if one relies on the development agenda of Adobe it is common), the publisher indicated its wish to disclose this information in advance, so that the professionals involved may consider to migrate to an operating system newer than Windows XP.
At this stage, it is unclear, however, whether the lack of support for Windows XP will result in the impossibility of installing future versions of Photoshop or if, as in the case of CS6 and Windows Vista, the support will be limited simply, without a formal compatibility guarantee.

With this step, Adobe plans to focus on modern operating systems, and current hardware. Adobe expects the Windows users to switch to Windows 7 at least, in order to continue to benefit from the new features of Photoshop. Well, one thing that comes in my mind is that, is adobe getting paid from microsoft, so that people start purchasing costly software and hardware?

But why are they taking this step? Any particular reason that they have mentioned as there are many Adobe users who will be using vista or XP?

The reasons are obvious, Photoshop CS6 has already demonstrated that it relies on a modern operating system, graphics card / GPU and graphics drivers that may result in a substantial improvement in the 3D functions, Blur Gallery and Lighting Effect that is not already available to users of Windows XP. The team hopes that by providing this information as soon as possible will help customers understand their current decisions on the support of operating systems and where they are heading for future versions of Photoshop.
