I have been using WD My Book Essential HDD and everything was working fine but unfortunately a mouse has splitted the power cord in two and it won’t be working out any more, so I just wanted to know that is the power cord covered under warranty ? If not then where can I get it, can I use any other power cord with the WD My Book Essential HDD? Or I will have to get a wd one?? Any suggestions.
I don’t think that your case will be considered under warranty as it has been bitten by mice and such physical damage are not considered under warranty. Anyways it is not recommended to use third party power supplies with the external hard drives provided by the Western Digital. The power supplies that are sold by them are said to be specifically designed for their external hard drives, if you are not in warranty then you will have to simply get it from WD Store Accessories. If you are in warranty then you will have to contact the western digital by sending a email. When you send them a email,make sure that you mention WD drive model number, WD drive serial number, power supply model number or USB cable specs along with your contact details, Hope that helps.
