Online options for Ridge Racer Unbounded which is a console port

I am currently playing Ridge Racer Unbounded’s single player campaign offline. After completing offline campaign I am going to play the online mode. Before I play it can someone tell me what options are available in online mode of Ridge Racer Unbounded? I am playing this game on PC and whenever some instruction shows up, the key configuration is displayed in Xbox 360 keypad configuration. So is this game ported from Xbox 360?

There are five races that you can play online along with other players. I like the Domination race the most. It is just like usual race where you have to reach the end from start point. But in this race you can destroy your opponents and smash building to crush enemy under debris or to obstruct your opponents. It is pure fun when played with many people. Another race is Shindo Racing. This is again similar to Domination Race but the only difference between them is that you can’t destroy opponents and buildings in this race. This is pure race where you have to win using speed and control on handling of your car.

Other races available to play online are Time attack. In this type of race you have to beat the best time achieved by some other player on the same track. Another race is the drift attack. In this race many racers drift on the race track to collect the drift points and compete among each other. The player also has to reach within time and cannot drift in single place. You can also play the Frag Race online. This race is similar to the Takedown event in Burnout Paradise. There is no fixed track, you can drive anywhere in city. The main objective is to destroy as many opponents possible. The player who destroys most opponents wins.

The game has a map creator in it. Using it, you can create custom maps for racing. You can upload these maps online and challenge other players to compete with you on it.

If you will be playing this game from its PC version, then remember that map creator doesn’t work in PC version. This is a known issue and most of the users have experienced it. Due to this error, when you start the map creator, the game will crash with an error message suggesting a zlib error. This issue has been noticed by the developers and they are working to release a patch for it. Other features of the game will work normally except the map creator. You can play on maps created by others and use every other function of this game.

Yes, Ridge Racer Unbounded is game ported from Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It was never actually built for PC. The developers when found a great interest among PC gamers for Ridge Racer Unbounded, they ported it to PC. But it has many problems. The game doesn’t display graphics on monitors with aspect ratio 4:3. The controls of the game were never ported to PC. You can see Xbox 360 controls in option of game and also during instructions.

Online mode of Ridge Racer Unbounded has option to allow only 8 players in the race. In offline races, you can have 12 players in a race. To play the online mode of this game, you will need to have an internet connection with good speed.

This game has issues with non-compatibility with Steering wheel controller available to play racing games on PC. The game accepts the Xbox 360 control for PC which can be connected in USB port. The PC version is compressed so excellently that you will find the setup of size just 1.5 GB.
