Dude, I have solution for you and I can tell you reason behind this. One of the most important thing is Netgear is dual brand wireless router and you know it transmits 2.4 GHz band and this case your computer can see. Coming to the “n” only on the 5.8 GHz band this band your computer can not see. If you have USB dual-band dongle adapter then it will be possible to see both band. Therefore I can say that it use for the videos streaming.

Guys, I recently purchased the HP dv6 hi-def entertainment PC having a processor i5 but the thing is that i5 processor doesn’t support the 5 GHZ connection. On this point I discussed to my brother and he told that old makbook can do.

Re: Unable to connect the Broadcom 43225 802.11b/g/n to my HP laptop.
I have HP DV6 3147SB with broadcom 43225 b/g/ and along with that I am having wireless NetGear N 300. I can give you the solution for it. Just set the netgrear router to option "Up to 270 Mbps at 2.4 Ghz". I just wanted to say you it will use only 2.4 GHz channel for the b/g/n protocol. Then after you will see all your wireless devices only the “n” Short for service set identifier. Then you will see that “n” will use same channel 270 mbps Wlan connection and other would have 54 mbps speed on same channel. Then you cannot do anything from your laptop. You have to leave channel setting in “auto “mode.

There is so much reply but I would suggest you please don’t confuse. There is something you can do with your laptop. The solution for this issue is very easy. I would suggest you please just spent the 5 to 7 $ dollar on Ebay and purchase the Atheros 5009 card. One more thing I can tell you this card will supports your 5Ghz frequency. I will recommend you please search for HP part# 518437-001 and download it and install it snap and remove your existing Broadcom from the back of our laptop.

Guys, I had the same problem but I solved it and how I did it. I can tell you. I swapped the AR9285 single 2.4 band car for the Dual 2.4/5ghz AR5009/9280 cards. I purchased this with help of the EABY from china. I did on the three DV7's.However I am having AMD chips. I did by changing by some adapter settings through I went to network and sharing center. After that I went to Wireless network Connection Status and then click on the properties and then configure and then advance. These all three running very steady speed i.e. 300 mbps and I am getting any fluctuation in that.
