Career in Engineering Physics in India
I want to pursue engineering course in engineering physics. I wanted to know what the scope of engineering physics in India is. From which institute should I do the course? The main question is, in which will I be working after completing the course?
Re: Career in Engineering Physics in India
The course of Engineering physics is meant to provide knowledge to a person in field of applied physics. A person who has knowledge of this field is expected to provide solution using the knowledge and understanding of mathematical, scientific, statistical & scientific principles. One can also conduct research on development, design or analysis to bridge the gap between theoretical science and practical engineering. Engineering physics is one of the most respected degrees in the world.
Re: Career in Engineering Physics in India
Studying Engineering Physics can lead a person to specialize his/her knowledge in field of optics, quantum physics, materials science, applied mechanics, nanotechnology, micro fabrication, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biophysics, control theory, aerodynamics, energy, solid-state physics and many more such fields. In many institutes this courses are available in form of B.Tech, B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D.
Re: Career in Engineering Physics in India
The course will include the basic and advanced knowledge about mathematics, physics, chemistry & biology. This study will include subjects like fluid dynamics, engineering mathematics and statistics, quantum physics, economics, plasma physics, solid mechanics, bioengineering, operations research, information technology and engineering, dynamical systems, environmental engineering, computational engineering, solid-state devices, relativity, materials science, electromagnetism, nanoscience, nanotechnology, energy, and optics.
Re: Career in Engineering Physics in India
An undergraduate program in this field mostly focuses on application of well established concepts. You will be studying about the established methods for designing and analysis of situations by applying principles and methods of physics. A post graduate program focuses on creation and use of more advanced techniques. In today’s world where use of more advanced experimental and computational techniques for standard approaches are inadequate, a person will learn to develop solutions for contemporary problems by applying principles of Physics.
Re: Career in Engineering Physics in India
This course provides a good grasp on knowledge of physics to a person which opens new doors in field of engineering, architecture, medicine, veterinary, technology, agriculture and other applied science streams. People having such deep knowledge about physics can also apply for competitive exams like National Standard Examination in Physics which further leads to National and International Physics Olympiad Examinations. Indian Association of Physics Teachers under the aegis of Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) & Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) conduct these exams.
Re: Career in Engineering Physics in India
There are many colleges which provide B.Sc. degree in Physics. Many universities and private institute provide Masters Degree in Physics. Many central universities and state universities provide Doctorate Degree in Physics. IGNOU is one such university which provides distance education for graduation, post-graduation and doctorate degree. The university of Mumbai and department of atomic energy have collaborated to provide courses at post graduation level in science subjects. Application to Doctorate program is based on merits obtained in NEST/GATE exams combined with merits of entrance level exams conducted by institutes.

Re: Career in Engineering Physics in India
After acquiring degrees in Engineering Physics, one can apply in universities. One can also apply for development section in national industries and laboratories. Many graduates from this field establish their career as staff engineers or scientists or technical directors in research and administrative positions in nonprofit and national laboratories. You can also apply for job as Professor in universities or maybe as a consultant or physician. You can also apply for research in institutes like Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) & Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR).
Re: Career in Engineering Physics in India
This course provides knowledge about quantum physics, optics, plasma engineering, energy and bio engineering etc. Many institutes and colleges are providing these courses like B.Sc., B.Tech, M.Sc. And you can also do Ph. D in engineering physics. There is a great scope in this field.
