Does SEP device blocking policy work on Windows x64 platforms?
I have been trying to find out whether the SEP device blocking policy work on Windows x64 platforms or not but then I have found varying answers for the same, I mean that some are saying that it does and some say that it does not and I am really confused, is there anyone who has a complete idea about the same and clear my doubt??

As far as I am aware Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 does not support Windows x64 platforms but then it supports 32 bit where as the Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 is capable of supporting 32 bit as well as 64bit app and device control.

I have found the following for the 12.1 Version and it clearly states that it supports Windows x64 platforms, so you don’t have to worry about the same, just check it out:

So in order to get the Device and Application blocking feature on a windows 64x Operating system I will have to upgrade my environment to 12.1, anyways I just want to know if is possible to run 12.1 clients of a 11.* Symantec Endpoint Protection, any further help for the same will be appreciated.

Yes you can very well upgrade to the SEPM to 12.1 and after that deploy the SEP 12.1 client to your Windows x64 platforms machines and leave the other machines to remain with SEP 11 as now the SEPM 12.1 is capable of managing both 11 client as well as 12.1 client. Hope your doubt is clear now.
