Can i add new PCB to my Seagate ST9500325AS 500 GB hard disk
I had plugged my hard disk to 4 pin to SATA power cable but later i come to know that cable was burnt. My PCB was also looking warmer from normal. I tried to check if it is still working and for that connected my hard disk to my laptop but it did not detect it. When i connected it to my computer it was not taking the power. I thought that my PCB may have burnt but it doesn’t look like it is burnt. Can i put new PCB with same model number in my hard disk? Do in need to check for any other detail like firmware version etc?

If you replace the PCB from your hard disk then it will not work with other PCB because they all have unique ROM on it. You will have to use the same ROM chip on your PCB. Be very careful while handling them or they will get break. It will be better if you buy new hard disk for yourself.

It will work if you use the same model but its PCB pin should also match with it. Use the multimeter to count the resistance of the 5V TVS diode near SATA power connector. Check the resistance between ground and +5V pins of the connector.

It looks like my diode is already shorted. I checked the diode from another drive but that is IDE drive, it has same size of diode as this. It has B2 written on it and the one that i have has KE5 on diode that is on SATA disk. I thought removing the diode from the board will help me but it is still not working even after removing the diode successfully from my PCB.
