Where is msconfig file located?

Hey, can anyone tell me the exact location of the “msconfig” file. I searched it in the win32 folder but couldn’t find it. Thanks in advance!

There are several way by which you can search “msconfig” file .
1. Go to start then go to RUN and type “msconfig”. You will get it Or else see another way.
2. Go to start and search with “msconfig”.

This method shows you where System Configuration Utility is located in Windows using Windows Explorer.
Please perform the following steps:
1. Please go to the start menu and choose RUN
2. Now type there “C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\Binaries” and press ok.
3. In the binaries folder you will find msconfig file.

I have more complicated question for you! When I tried both the ways of finding the msconfig file (as mentioned by above user) I had these results:
01st I tried start -> RUN -> type “msconfig”
o/p: windows can’t find "msconfig.exe".
when I tried 2nd way start and search with “msconfig”.
I found two “msconfig” files!
One is located at C\Windows\help and it shows that as "compile HTML help file” other one is located at C\windows\PCHealth\Help Ctr\Binaries and is described as "system configuration utility" . I think 2nd one is correct one.
How can I access msconfig from run command?

You are probably missing msconfig.exe file. I have tried this, if I remove msconfig.exe file, then I am not able to find it through RUN command either. You must have misplaced it. Find your msconfig file and place it on the correct path that is : C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe.
This will allow you to run msconfig from RUN command.

If you find your msconfig file misplaced then it can be the reason to worry. I am putting the various locations where this file can be misplaced.The For security reasons read the following:
1. If you find your file located in a subfolder of "C:\Documents and Settings" then the security rating for your pc is 56% dangerous.
2. If you find your file located in the folder C:\Windows\System32 then the security rating for your pc is 55% dangerous.
3. If you find your file located in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files" then the security rating for your pc is 43% dangerous.
4. If you find your file located in the folder C:\Windows then the security rating for your pc is 68% dangerous.
5. If your file located in a subfolder of Windows Temp folder then the security rating for your pc is 56% dangerous.
6. If your file is located in the Windows Temp folder then the security rating for your pc is 50% dangerous.
If you find file misplaced anywhere in the system then please make proper changes and put it back to the default place like the user above said.
