Sims 3 not working on Windows 7
I have bought Sims 3 game and I am able to create my sim but whenever I go to other option like building mode or even when I go to play the game, it freezes. I have good configuration with windows 7 for this game still I am not able to play this game! Can anyone please tell me what is wrong with my game?
Re: Sims 3 not working on Windows 7
Make sure there is a sufficient space on your computer if not than try this;
1. Press CTRL, SHIFT, ALT , AND C together (at least worked for me)
2. If it works . you will see blue box with with a white strip on the bottom . click on that strip and press tab, it will prompt for auto patch then press enter. Auto patch will fix all the problems in your game.
3. Well , if your game freezes or black outs then you should probably contact the company who made this game! or go to thesims3.com and then go to contact and send them e-mail about how you have been having problems with your game!
Re: Sims 3 not working on Windows 7
All of you people having trouble with this game should check the basic requirements for playing this game. I think game has listed the requirements for the game to run. But these are the least required configurations.
So those who are having problems with the game should at least have 2GB RAM, Dual Core Processors, and 512MB Video(compatible for this game).
Re: Sims 3 not working on Windows 7
It looks like you have problem with your graphic card. I had problem like my pc would run for few time and would go switch off. If you have Nvidia graphic card then you should do this, worked for me:
1. Go to control panel
2. Nvidia control panel
3. At the top select “advanced setting”
4. Select “advance” click “manage 3D setting”
5. Change "Conformant Texture Clamp" to "Use OpenGL specification"
6. Change "Force Mipmaps" to "Trilinear"
7. Change “Texture Filtering - Trilinear Optimization” to “ON”
8. Change "Vertical Sync" to "Force On"
9. Save all of your changes! Now you see if you can play!
Re: Sims 3 not working on Windows 7
Try playing in windowed mode - Change the setting in the main menu as you start the game, before you choose your town. This seems to have worked with some people. Also, in windowed mode, reduce your resolution slightly. This reduces the strain on your pc's Graphics card. Hope this helps!
Re: Sims 3 not working on Windows 7
I think this may help:
- Launch The Sims 3.
- Click on the blue Options button on the lower left-hand side of the screen.
- Click on the 'Options' menu item.
- The 'Graphics' tab should be opened by default.
- Uncheck the 'Enable Full-screen Mode' button.
- Click on the blue Check Mark button on the lower right-hand corner to save changes.
- Re-start The Sims 3.

If you are using laptop for playing this game make sure it is getting air under it. I had problem of overheating. I put books under my laptop so that it is not fully touched to the ground. Let your laptop get enough air.Or you can have laptop cooler pad for better cooling. It will really keep your laptop cool and reduce the chances of overheating causing unusual switch-off.
