Installation hangs while preparing partition in Linux Mint 9
I am revamped to Linux. I am attempting to install Mint 9 on an old Win2000 computer. P4 1.6 GHz 512MB The Live CD works amazing. Even able to use a old PCI wireless card. When attempting to install, the installation hangs at arrange the part. I did much looking here and on Google and found "solutions". Try not to totally comprehend them. Is there a basic/step by step/easy to take after guide any place that could help me? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Since a computer is old, ext3 filesystem works superior to ext4. Prefer advanced choice (encountered user) and make the parts. My opinion is:
- -root partition --> primary ext3 --> 10 GB
- -swap partition --> 1 GB
- -home partition --> logical ext3 --> big enough = 10 GB +

I try not to get far enough in the install to get to the advance options. Following I decide on keyboard and click advance the following window expresss arrange parcel but every last item is grayed out and stays that way. Any other valid suggestions? I am having the same situation on a small Dell Mini 9. I get to the select keyboard page and I was told that there were no raid drives or something. I think this PC has a small robust state drive that has never been part of anything else. I don't arrangement on dual booting or anything, I actually would like to install linux.
