How to verify latency in network
If you are using internet or inside any network, you might have noticed that there is a slight bit variation in speed or bandwidth. This may be cause of anything either due to connection failure or excessive usage from other client which is connected to the same line or network or something like that. So how can we authenticate if there is latency within network before using ping command?

There is a web site, called SpeedTest which calculate your download speed (download) and rise in Kilobits and Kilobytes per second. Also, prior to doing the speed test, make sure your ping or latency if you do not recognize what that is, the delay of information from one computer to another expressed in milliseconds to seconds. Under tells you your IP address, if you initiate the test, click on the pyramid offer (server) that you verify the yellow, is the server adjacent to your site. Otherwise you can select the one you would like. Following the test, it shows the upload plus downloads speed in kilobytes per second.

A packet is a formatted block of data and packet loss occurs if one or more packets of data traveling over a network do not reach the destination. No system is immune to packet loss. The frequency of packet loss depends on factors including the bandwidth and buffer size of routers. The latency causes an increase in the frequency of packet loss. The Windows operating system includes PathPing tool for measuring latency and packet loss rate. PathPing sends packets to each router to its final destination at a time and then calculates the results based on the packets returned from each hop. Since PathPing indicates the level of packet loss for each router or link, you may want to determine which routers or links causing network problems.

Besides the bandwidth, the network latency is the important issue meant for the network speed. A network latency experiment measures the time that a packet from one point toward one more and reverse over again takes the so-called round trip time. The amount of data traffic on that server, the status of your line, the distance between your machine and also the power that gives you internet service, and even the power of your PC, also influence the ping (or latency), but note that the geographical location of server you want to connect will be decisive because the other factors you can control usually less.

The tool MRTG is actually the tool that suits you to measure traffic on a port of a switch or any network interface. Latency is a multiplying factor of the number of files: you have more latency; the more each HTTP request will take at least a certain time, regardless of the size of the file to load. Latency can have a greater impact on your loading file size of that file. Indeed, it can be more important than the time it takes for your file to enter the pipe.
