Getting error message ‘msfconsle stop working’ after updating BackTrack 5
Previously I was having BackTrack 4 on the computer and now I have installed BackTrack 5 on the system. It seems to be working fine for me. I loved all the utilities which has been included in this particular operating system. Recently I have updated the msfconsole but it did not seems to be working after upgrading the same. I have tried to look into the /opt/framework3/ but there was no command. Let me know if you are having the specific solution to get the requirement of mine. Thanks a lot in advance.

I wanted to gather some vital information which would help me out to figure out the root cause of the problem which you are getting. Do you getting any error message? If your answer is yes then you should post the error message over here. Is there any issue while installing the update on the computer? Let me know whether msfconsole was working on the previous version of BackTrack? So answer the above mentioned questions as early as possible.
Re: Getting error message ‘msfconsle stop working’ after updating BackTrack 5
I let you know that BackTrack is having Metasploit Framework. I recommend that you have to install the latest version of the Metasploit Framework by using following command.
Code:
$ sudo bash
# cd /pentest/svn
# rm -rf framework3
So you should update the system of yours by using the above mentioned command and then restart the computer.
Re: Getting error message ‘msfconsle stop working’ after updating BackTrack 5
Once you have installed Metasploit Framework on the computer of yours. you should have pcaprub extension if you wanted to use the raw socket modules by using the following command.
Code:
# cd /pentest/svn/framework3/external/pcaprub
# ruby extconf.rb
# make && make install
Once you have installed have pcaprub extension then you have to use the Metasploit Framework.
Re: Getting error message ‘msfconsle stop working’ after updating BackTrack 5
I am suggesting following command to use the wi-Fi modules. Well the below mentioned command would simply install the lorcon2 extension on the computer.
Code:
# cd /pentest/svn
# cd lorcon2
# ./configure --prefix=/usr && make && make install
# cd /pentest/svn/framework3/external/ruby-lorcon2
# ruby extconf.rb
# make && make install
