Gradually more often, people new to the Mac and the Mac gaming scene wonder why a particular game they crave is not available on Steam for Mac. Well most of the people have the same question. There are several possible reasons for this, but in the majority cases it is simply lack of interest from the original publisher. Mac gaming market is relatively small and not all publishers of PC games that measured worth the extra effort.

In almost all cases, the initiative for Mac versions of these companies comes from transfers. They move towards the editors of the version of Windows, pay them a fee for the right to carry the game and then adapt and rewrite part of the game code to make it run on Macs.

The reason for this is that the steam does not distinguish between Mac and Windows versions. Permit only a single SKU for each game, in spite of the platforms supported. This means that finance from each game sold would be divided between the publisher of the version of Windows and transfer companies, which in any case would be unfavorable to the company portability (which invested heavily in the port of Mac). But in reality, companies do not have Mac carry any money in these cases at the time.

I would also add that there have been a lot of messages on the valves of the lack of effort to steam on Mac. And I agree. Now it feels much like the steam in all Mac was a larva of money for their personal exemptions. Half-Life and Counter-Strike are impressive, but not enough. Valve is required to view some of the money is better than no money, so it is possible and start offering some kind of incentive or disruption to the public to give both parties.
