Side by side configuration error - please help!
Hi there,
I'm hoping that someone will be able to offer words of wisdom..
Laptop has Windows 7 and we're getting the side by side configuration error. This started last week when the laptop got stuck on the start up page (W7 symbol), didn't start and then went to a start up repair page, at which point it said it was going to try to return to an earlier point in time. It then said this wasn't possible, that it couldn't repair and closed itself down. Since then, we've been able to switch it on and log in but when trying to use any applications (including Virgin Media Security, Adobe Photoshop and others), now we just get the side by side configuration error message,.
I've had a look through previous threads about this but am not particularly good with computers so no idea where to start with trying to put it right. The laptop is only 6 months old- is it worth returning it to where it was purchased from? Where should we start with getting it sorted? :uhm:
Thanks for your help.
PS. laptop I'm using now isn't the one I'm posting about!

Well, the solution to this issue what I have read on many sites seems to be:
- Uninstalling AVG (if installed) and then Reboot.
- Uninstalling VC++ Redistributable in Control Panel - Programs and Features (If 2 copies, uninstall both) and then Reboot.
- Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package again from here.
- Reboot and check if you still get the error.
