Re: Unable to change the default font in Word 2010
Just attempt this- Open Word, alter the font and put it as the default for each and every document based on the standard template and after that close Word. Now depart to the templates folder and seem at the date and time of the Normal.dotm template. Is it the time the present time (i.e. the time at which you stopped Word? If not, after that, something it stopping Word from saving the template. If it is the present time, power cut your computer and starts again it and after that checks for the date and time of the normal.dotm template.
Re: Unable to change the default font in Word 2010
I am not a specialist on MS Word but I may have a few help for you. I have had the similar trouble and here is what I did, even though it is an incomplete fix. On the tool bar to the extreme right there is a key says "Change Styles". Click on the drop down arrow and you will notice an alternative for fonts. Even though each probable alternative is not there, you may probable find something close. I selected Verdana as I like that font (falls below the title Aspect). It didn't point to what font size escorts that option but it emerges to default to 11 pt. In any case, anything option you select, if you select one, at the base of that drop down box is the alternative to put as default. I did that and it works for me apart from for the font size being 11 in its place of 12 which is what I favor. I wish this helps.
Re: Unable to change the default font in Word 2010
I am at a standstill not capable to alter the default font in Word 2010 later than utilizing all suggestions. The font and size can be distorted but later than closing Word 2010 and reopening, the font and size have reverted back to Calibri size 11. I went to the normal.dotm and seemed at the date and time and it has not distorted. The normal.dotm is not read only or write secluded. I am not on a business network. Your thoughts regarding a third party add-in may be right.

Attempt the following: In Word, push Alt+F11 to unlock the Visual Basic Editor. Push Ctrl+G to activate the instant window. Enter NormalTemplate. OpenAsDocument and push Enter. You should notice Normal.dotm in a divide window (you may have to click the symbol on the Windows task bar). Alter the defaults, for instance in the Font dialog box, save and shut the file down. Close all documents and revive Word.

Opening the Visual Basic Editor and pursuing your processes did make it probable to alter the default font in Word 2010. I after that went to the Options dialog box and chosen COM Add-Ins from the Manage catalog and noted two COM Add-ins obtainable: OneNote Notes regarding Word and PDF Complete. Just PDF Complete had ensured in the box. Does this mean that PDF Complete is causing the trouble? I was not capable situate the Word Startup folder.
Re: Unable to change the default font in Word 2010
The PDF conversion software may splendidly be the offender. I am not well-known with PDF Complete, but you could ensure if there is an alternative within the program to immobilize the add-in. If not, you can attempt disabling the add-in from within Word. Note that the functionality of PDF Complete is probable to be exaggerated. To discover the path to the Startup folder, you will have to seem at File tab | Options, Advanced tab; click on the File Locations key. To really notice the folder, you may have to show hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer.
