Error Code 80073712
Hello. I'm having a few problems with installing new updates on what i believe is a Window Vista Laptop.
I had a look at the other threads but none of them resolved my problem.. It seems something is different. Because at one stage, all i was getting was an Error message saying Dependency Service or group failed to start. After i resolved it. I then tried to install the latest Windows Update. That's when i got the Error Code 80073712.
I followed the other threads to try reslove the issue.. But when i opened CMD and typed in:
takeown /f C:\Windows\winsxs\pending.xml
To delete it and rename it..
It came up saying ERROR The system cannot find the file specified.
It has confused me and I cannot find an solutions online at all.
I hope that anyone could help me with this issue.
Thank-you for giving the time to read this.

Re: Error Code 80073712
If you are experiencing the issue with the same then i will advise you to go with the given Instruction. Just Click on Start and then to select Run. Now in Run box type "chkdsk c: /f". This command will run through your system and fix any issue if found. So if you can then try this out and see whether this is working for you or not.

Re: Error Code 80073712
I tried it. It didnt work. I called up Microsoft and the downloaded an Anti-Malware software and did it all for me. The Malwareprotection is called Hitman Pro 3.5
Then they redirected me to a fix for the error and everything was fine. Unfortunately i don't know the site or name of the fix.
But i thank you for the advice

Re: Error Code 80073712
To anyone who is facing similar kind of problem can try running the Fix it tool from the article called Reset Windows Update Components from here. Start by running it in normal mode and then trying Windows Updates. If you still have a problem then run it in aggressive mode and test. I wonder whether you used the same site to fix the issue or not.
