Router Can't get access into 198.168.1.1
I use VPN connection so I need to set up my router. I reset, reinstalled and reconfigured my router. My internet connection and modem is working fine, but I don’t understand why can't I get to that web page?. I cannot get to the 198.168.1.1 page to set up my router. If you know about router setting than please help me. Please tell me the proper method of reconfiguring the router. Your small help will benefit me a lot.
re: Router Can't get access into 198.168.1.1
First please make sure that you really know the reinstallation or reconfiguring router. If you don’t know than make sure your modem/router has a IP of 198.168.1.1?
If yes than perform these steps:
Click Start - Run
type cmd - Click ok
In the Command Window type ipconfig and press enter.
see what IP address is if 198.168.1.? than you should be able to access to 198.168.1.1. So if you get a IP in IPCONFIG of 198.168.1.? then try to access the Modem/Router with the IP address of 192.168.1.1.
re: Router Can't get access into 198.168.1.1
I’m pretty sure it should be 192.168.1.1?. first make sure than try resolve by applying following things:
Open Command Prompt then type ...
ping 192.168.1.1
then try
tracert 192.168.1.1
The first test (ping) will tell you if your router can be seen by your system.
The second test (tracert) will show the route to your router.
If the router cannot be seen by either of these tests try rebooting the router. If your problem is not resolved then contact your ISP.
re: Router Can't get access into 198.168.1.1
I think it should be 192.168.1.1. not 198.168.1.1. If your connecting by IP your DNS server is not an issue. some routers use a non standard port for management access and they can also be set to allow only 443 or HTTPS. Your routers IP is probably your default gateway. So from a cmd line type ipconfig and hit enter. If your gateway is the 192.168.1.1 then you have the right address, try https://192.168.1.1. you may also try rebooting the router.
re: Router Can't get access into 198.168.1.1
I think your router can’t get access due to some setting problems. Try doing a total reset on the router, making the router go back to the settings when you first installed it. Then down the power of everything, connect router to the internet, wait, power it up, wait, then plug in your client pc and power it up. Do another IPCONFIG and see if it took an IP address. 169.254.35.236 is indicating the PC cannot get an address from the router. If you still not get access then contact your service provider.

Routers are best when you use through wired connection. Because using router through wire is more secure and reliable than using wireless connection. Try the following steps to resolve your problem.
