Configure flash 9 in firefox to use a specific alsa device
I have a build in sound card in my machine and i also make the use of the USB headphones into my machine. I am looking to configure flash 9 such that, when i plug the headphone in my machine, then the audio should come through my headphone and when it is not plugged in, then the audio should come from the speakers. How can i do this? Is there anyone who knows the method to do this configuration? Please do suggest me the solution for doing this. Thanks.
Re: Configure flash 9 in firefox to use a specific alsa device
I have done this before in my laptop, so i will advice you a solution for doing this. I will recommend you to boot your system with the usb headphone plugged in. This will set the usb headphone as the primary ALSA device. After doing this flash 9 will automatically go to USB. Try this out as it might help you in solving your problem.
Re: Configure flash 9 in firefox to use a specific alsa device
I have a solution for this issue. I would like to advise you to create a “.asoundrc" file inside your home directory. This file will help to specify the default audio device in your machine. If your headphone is plugged in, then it will specify your usb headphone as the default one and if it is not plugged in, then it will specify your speaker as the default one. I think this will definitely help you in solving your issue. So try this out.

Even i would like to thank you for you kind help. I have tried you solution given by Brooks and fortunately it is working on my machine. Now when i plug in my headphone, then i am able to hear the sound from it and when i unplug it, then my speaker acts as the default one.
