How to share files between Mac and Windows XP
Hi i am having two systems at home one has one has MAC OSX 10.5.8 as the operating system and other one has the windows XP. The thing here is that i want to share files between then and some how i am not able to do this. The thins is that the Mac is the server and it has all the rights and the other one is the normal. Now the XP system only has the rights to see the file and not to edit it even though both work for the same. Please help me to solve the problem also let me know is it possible to share files between them.
Re: How to share files between Mac and Windows XP
Yes it is possible to share files between two different operating systems and in this case it is mac and the windows XP. If both of then are connected in the same network then it is possible to share files between them. If you are facing the permission problem than don't set one ,machine as the server and other as normal because setting this will definitely give you problems.
Re: How to share files between Mac and Windows XP
If you have to do get rid of the problem that you are facing than you have to do the following thing:
- First of all change the sharing permissions
- You have to make certain permissions like read and write
- Then give the write permission to the XP system .
- Then you can edit the files in the windows XP also
- For this you have to select the folder that you want to share and then set the permissions for that particular folder.
Re: How to share files between Mac and Windows XP
I have gone through the problem and you have to solve this than you have to follow the below steps.
- First of all you have to change the NTLM authentication level
- And for changing the policy you have to go to start button and go to search button
- And then type "gpedit.msc" on it and then press ok
- And then try to change the value LM & NTLM - use NTLM.
- I hope that this will help you to solve your problem
