Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1
Using Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1, I have problem lunching a LAB that require base08c.vhd
All other labs lunch normally
The error i got is:
THIS APPLICATION REQUIRES WRITE ACCESS TO THE FILE BASE08C.VHD PLEASE ENSURE THIS FILE IS NOT WRITE PROTECTED.
I installed IIS
.net v2
Virtual server 2005 R1 SP2
The base files are not read only
I even download a new BASE08C.VHD file from MCT site, same result.
All other base files works fine.
please advise what to do to resolve the problem?
Re: Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1
Can you make sure to perceive if the VHD file isn't set as read-only in the file attributes (not NTFS permissions). It would be better for me and other members to reply if you post a screen shot of the error message. Also, you should attempt VMRC Plus from Microsoft. It's superior than the IIS web site for control, and it would also remove IIS as the problem. Is this VHD file part of another VM, or is it the only VHD connected with the VM? You can try to generate a new Virtual Machine and use the similar VHD file and see if that works.
Re: Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1
Dear Solaris,
I found the solution.
I am using Virtual server 2005 R1 SP2 as a part of training labs for MCITP course.
Microsoft copies the extracted data to this path
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Learning
When you extract a .vhd file the default path will be:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Learning\base
So when I changed the location of the .vhd files I came up with error message:
THIS APPLICATION REQUIRES WRITE ACCESS TO THE FILE BASE08C.VHD PLEASE ENSURE THIS FILE IS NOT WRITE PROTECTED.
I copy back the data to the default location. Everything works fine.
Thank you so much for the useful information about VMRC plus.
