Office 2007 on Dead Hard drive - can't activate on new notebook.
I have got the student version of Office 2007 and have installed it on my Dell Notebook. Now i am not able to recover the data from the Hard drive. I have downloaded it again but it says that i have reached my limit of activations. Can i request for canceling an older product key and then to get the new one to solve this problem.

I have seen this kind of issues with the demo versions of a genuine software as it does not works on computer system other then those on which it has been installed first time. There must be some kind of validations has made on its installing file so that user can install it only once then it wont be working.

It might happen that the Hard drive on which you have putted the Microsoft Office 2007 have got corrupted due to which you will not be able to get the data out of it. I guess there wont be any solution to get an Office 2007 from the hard drive which you are not able to access.

Though i do not have much idea as how to get the data from the dead hard disk but still if you will be explaining the whole problem to the customer care then i guess they must be having some solution for the same. Or they might come at your place and install the new one on your new computer system.

I guess you should tell microsoft to send some guy who can install the new copy of Office 2007 on your windows system. But make sure that you would be backing up the software which has been newly installed on your system so that by any chance you lost your hard drive or any data or you may have to format your pc then you can always install it again from the back up.
