USMT 4: XP to Windows 7 not migrating network printers
I am using USMT 4 for migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 but there seems to be some kind of problem and I am unable to rectify the problem. Ideally, network printers should be transferred along with the mapped drives but this is not the case on my end. Can anyone help me to successfully migrate my network printer?
Re: USMT 4: XP to Windows 7 not migrating network printers
In order to migrate your network printer via USMT 4, you must check if you have dlmanifest folder in your USMT 4 working directory. By default it is there but make sure it is present on the same place. Apart from that you can even try out running genconfig and navigate to Microsoft-Windows-MPR-DL. It will help you in migration.
Re: USMT 4: XP to Windows 7 not migrating network printers
This is quiet common problem which has been seen a lot of time when you try to migrate from XP to Windows 7 with the help of USMT. however to resolve this problem, you need to copy the USMT binaries to local client and use "Run Command Line" task sequence in order to run scanstate.exe from USMT\x86 directory. This involves two steps, namely first to copy the USTM folder onto the local drive, and the second running USMT capture state.
Re: USMT 4: XP to Windows 7 not migrating network printers
According to the Microsoft description, Network printer migration is done by default using the manifest files. However these settings are not available for an offline migration. Moreover, the application versions must be matched on the source and destination computers. It is not possible to migrate the settings from an earlier version of an application to a later one on USMT.
