username, password, and domain field at login screen in windows xp
I have been using Windows XP for quite some time and I was wondering if there was a way to turn off fast switching which will also require users to use ctrl+alt+del key to login. Here, I want to have domain field that will be accessible by having 3 different fields for username, domain and password which could be much simpler. Is this possible, thanks for any input.

So you want to customize the username, domain and password in the domain fields? However you can try to do the following and let us know whether it works for you or not:
- First, click on Start button, and type secpol.msc into Start Search box, and hit Enter to open the Local Security Policy Editor.
- After that navigate to Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options.
- In the right pane, double click on Interactive Logon: Do not display last user name.
- Select and set the radio button of Enabled.
- Click Apply or OK.

I assume that the only way to login is to specify the <domain name>/username in the user field that is opposed to having a third field where we can select the domain. Either ways you can try to go into safe mode and get into the network proprities. Double click the "Client for Microsoft's Networks". If there is a check mark in front of "Log on to a Windows NT Domain" remove it.

Actually, you do not need to know the local computer name when you are trying to logging into the local pc. If you can prefix the local username with .\ which is a period followed by a back slash, then this will let you login to the local computer. Lets say for instance, if you have a local username "dolla", then you can use the text as ".\dolla" as username to login locally.
