Converting a RAID0 in RAID5
Currently I am having the MSI P35 with a ICH9R Sata-RAID controller in accordance with the 2 x Seagate 1TB in RAID0. The Intel Matrix storage manages displays one of the disks as conjugate. I have tried to do chkdsk, but the problem cannot be resolved. Hence I want to buy one more on terabyte disk a convert the RAID0 in a RAID5 with more than two disk. Is there any method to do it directly? In short I need information for Converting a RAID0 in RAID5

Dell server running Windows SBS 2003. 3DD SATA2 160GB each. RAID Controller PERC 5 / I configured as RAID-5. The problem is that I want to transfer data to my server and keep them safe. So I opt for a RAID-5. When I look at disk management, I have a single basic disk 0 with 3 volumes: 133MB (C drive) 25GB NTFS (system), and (D 271.86 GB NTFS.
1) For my 160 GB * 3 = 480 GB Now I have only 300. Where are the remaining 180 GB?
2) The RAID-5 is it already implemented? And in this case, the 180 GB would be missing the redundancy of writing.
3) No need to convert the disks to dynamic disks then? If I still need to make the problem is that I converted the entire disk and thus the same part (C drive) reserved for the system -> problem! ?
4) If everything is OK I put all my data in D: and it works should work.
I try to put forward ideas but I am really reassured if a specialist gave me his opinion.

I have got the answer and will reply the way you have asked. First thing that you have asked 3x 160 Gio is in the case of RAID 0 (stripping said). Second thing is yes, the third hard drive used for parity. Third one there is no need for conversion, its hardware RAID, Windows does not see a single hard disk, and you do what you want. Yes, if everything goes right it will work.

A RAID combines physical hard disks into a single logical unit by using either special hardware or software.
