Setup game automatically takes to CD-DVD ROM Drive
I hope I don't copy a thread, I'm completely new to this site. But my question is, for certain games I try to install, when I click the setup icon it automatically takes me to the CD-DVD ROM Drive folder instead of the actual setup... this has been an issue for a while and I am wondering if it is possible to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you:ohyeah:
Re: Setup game automatically takes to CD-DVD ROM Drive
You have to use the option called 'Set program access and defaults' in 'all programs', and then click on 'add and remove program' and check that whether it is set on 'custom' as default (and will do so everytime I go into this program) then clicked on 'Microsoft Window'. Or you can also try to roll back to a previous driver:
- First Open Device Manager.
- Double-click the device category, and then double-click your device.
- Click the Driver tab, and then click Roll Back Driver.
- If you are asked whether you would like to roll back to the previous driver, click Yes.

Okay Mario, so I tried that, the Roll Back Driver button was grey, I just got this computer so it doesn't have a past driver. I have windows 7 and I'm not sure what my first option was, is there any more detailed way to help me? Thank you for what you have already done, though :ohyeah:

I think that you dont have admin priviledges therefore you are getting Roll Back Driver button grayed. Hence, I would suggest you to contact the admin and tell him about the issue. By the way which Operating System you are using?
Re: Setup game automatically takes to CD-DVD ROM Drive
I am running Windows 7 and I do have admin privileges. I am the only user on this computer.

I think that the .exe file association might be damaged. So what you can do is repair the .exe file association by downloading EXE File Association Fix from here. Note that it is for Windows XP, so you will have to install it in Windows 7 compatibility mode.
