Network mapping tool (auto discovery)
Hello,
I am currently looking for a tool (freeware or even better, opensource) Which automatically maps network (via SNMP) or at least that generates an XML file NIC. I have tried to search on the Web, but didn't find an appropriate results. So thought that you guys must be knowing about it. Also please provide some little information about that tool.!! :notworthy
Re: Network mapping tool (auto discovery)
Well, the XML Visio 2002 would be the good choice for you. I seek to see what can be done with Visio 2002 (self-discovery). Also I would like to recommend you to test network inspector who is very expensive or just lan MapShot which generates the map in visio. It works even better if the SNMP is enabled on switches and routers.
Re: Network mapping tool (auto discovery)
I know about the Free tool mapping coverage. This software allows to show HeatMapper wireless networks at home and small offices. Ekahau., A leader in wireless tracking solutions in real time (RTLS) and the analysis tools website (Site Survey), today introduced Ekahau HeatMapper, a tool for mapping coverage for wireless networks 802.11. HeatMapper Ekahau is the first free downloadable mapping tool on the market for laptops running Windows. It is easy to use and shows the strength of wireless signals on heat maps with color codes. Hope that you get some help from this.!!
Re: Network mapping tool (auto discovery)
In addition to the basic mapping coverage, Ekahau HeatMapper also locates all access points audible and indicates their configurations and security settings. This feature allows users to easily read the available wireless networks, detect security breaches and to ensure optimization of networks. Ekahau HeatMapper is also fully compatible with 802.11n networks, the new standard to increase significantly the flow Fi.

The Module Planner is a software logistic mapping allows geocoding of the logistics network, measures the carrying capacity of minimum and maximum capacity of the operations center etc. VISIO and ARIS Design Platform may also be an useful tool for the network mapping.
Re: Network mapping tool (auto discovery)
Once the selected network, the attacker will get the maximum information on the architecture of it. Knowledge of mapping will enable, among other things to increase its stealth. You should test network inspector who is very expensive or just LAN MapShot which generates the map in Visio. It works even better if the snmp is enabled on switches and routers. So according to me this could be the best option for you. Otherwise you can go for a tool suite style "Mega" to the realization mapping process diagram.
Re: Network mapping tool (auto discovery)
Try out SolarWinds Software products.
It will definitely solve your problem and will provide you good results.

The Module Planner is a software that is useful for logistic mapping which allows geocoding of the logistics network, measures the carrying capacity of minimum and maximum capacity of the operations center etc. In terms of urban transport, localization features and planning software mapping logistics are very useful to companies that perform multiple deliveries. The transportation planning software lets you schedule delivery routes, development of specific routes while respecting the capacity constraints, inventory and time. Also Risk mapping makes it possible to analyze the risks in their spatial characteristics. It comes at different scales and can represent the spatial distribution of hazards, the stakes, the vulnerabilities, or a combination of three factors. The mapping tool is also provide assistance in educating the general public, businesses, elected officials and he enrolled in optimizing the management of major risks.

NetCure Discovery is a free version of Rocket's NetCure NMS product. It does a nice job of multi-vendor L2+L3 discovery and mapping. It does not allow for more than picture-printing however. You have to pay to get it to export usable data.
