Use cellular modem from US on Airtel
I bought a cellular modem in US that I want to now use in India on the Airtel network. The customer care guy in US told me that I can use the modem but need to know the APN for Airtel without which I will not be able to use it in India. Can someone shed some light on this, what it means?
If I want to buy a new modem in India, which one's would recommend? And I don't' want to buy the USB modems that come with Airtel.
Thanks in advance fro your time.
Re: Use cellular modem from US on Airtel
If you are using the AirTel SIM card then you have to the APN setting for your modem there is no need to buy a new modem for that. Your GPRS APN Name is “airtelgprs.com”. Username and password you have to use are guest and guest respectively. DSN for this is 202.56.240.5 and 202.56.230.5. I hope this information will help you to configure the modem.
Re: Use cellular modem from US on Airtel
Thank you for your inputs.
I understand that “airtelgprs.com” is the APN for Airtel. Is there a list of APNs supported by Airtel?
I need the one with the following properties:
1. IP Address Type:
* Static IP Address.
* Public IP Address.
* External Mobile Terminated traffic is allowed but Mobile to Mobile Terminated traffic is disabled.
2. Mobile terminating address: Must be contacted via IP.
Look forward to your response.
