Hello, I am getting problem with my updates of the virus and spyware definitions. When I try to update it, it gives me message that the Microsoft Security Essentials was unable to update definitions and to make sure the computer is connected to the internet and try again. I am not able to get the solution for this. If you are having any solution then please provide that to me.

- Now you need to check that whether the security updates are on or not.
- If that is not selected then select them and press on the start.

Hello, I think you must need to use the safe mode for getting the solution. Then simply follow the steps as below for Manually Update Microsoft Security Essentials :
- Open the Microsoft Security Essential user interface.
- Then simply click on the Update tab.
- Here you will able to get the Update button for checking the updates and simply solve the problem.
Hello, if your Microsoft Security Essentials Fails to Update Definitions then you can simply follow the steps below and solve the problem:
- You need to go to the settings of the Scheduled Scan.
- Now here check on the Run a scheduled scan on my computer (recommended) checkbox.
- Then you need to again check on the Check for the latest virus and spyware definitions before running a scheduled scan from the checkbox.
- Now remove the check from the Start the scheduled scan only when my computer is on but not in use on the checkbox.
- Now save the changes.
- Done.
