Hi there, I using Compaq Presario CQ40-310AU Notebook which came installed with windows XP operating system. Just recently I had replaced the operating system with new windows 7. But there is a problem with it. The driver cd I am having with me is based on Windows XP. I had tried running the setup of that Windows XP on the laptop but it does not look to be working well. I want to use and test this on the OS and I tired also but it is not accepting anything. Can anyone help.
Windows 7 might get install but it is essential that you must first confirm whether your system is compatible with that or not. If there are no drivers then you wont be able to use the same. I am going to give you minimum system requirements for windows 7. Just check once.
- 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
- 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
- DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
You have to visit the official site of that laptop manufacturer and from there you can find the drivers that you are looking for. I am quiet sure you might get Windows 7 compatible driver on that place. But if you are not able to find it then you have to revert back to Windows XP which is the only option left. In windows 7 you can try installing the drivers on compatibility mode and I think that might work.
