Windows 7 Virtualization problem on Ubuntu 9.10
Hello,
I have a problem with virtualization under ubuntu 9.10
- USB devices are recognized by VirtualBox (USB icon in the lower right), only for the recognition of my VM, I have absolute check. The problem is that under my GDM session dedicated to virtualization, I do not have access to the interface VirtualBox (which I simply will not matter). I would like to know if it was possible that the connected USB devices are automatically mounted by the VM (in this session) and not by the host as a priority?
- I also have a problem with playing audio via an audio CD. Let me explain, I have configured the sound of the VM under VirtualBox and it works fine on the latter (Windows sounds, music on disk, etc. ... works perfectly) but when I insert a CD music, it is recognized by the reader, starts but no sound. If there are soltuion for these problem then I would appreciated your help. Thanks in advance.
Re: Virtualization problem on Ubuntu 9.10 for Windows 7
Hello,
I have not understood your problem. You have to put Ubuntu in dual boot with Windows XP after you have deleted Windows XP and then you should run Windows 7 as a Ubuntu machine virtualization? This is as simple as that, why do you need such things when the concept is quite simple. I think you are getting confused and you are messing up things now. Take it easy and install the vertilization box and do the installation.
Re: Windows 7 Virtualization problem on Ubuntu 9.10
Hello,
Even I am trying to do a virtulization under ubuntu 9.10, but not successful. I read your suggestion, the dual boot with XP is already installed in the facility. But IT managers want to delete this organization not to replace a new (host Ubuntu proposing to log on to Windows 7 is actually the latter, a virtual machine)
Schematically:
-> Ubuntu 9.10
GDM (Choice sessions) - |
-> VirtualBox -> VM Windows 7
So, if there a solution for this. Thanks in advance.
Re: Windows 7 Virtualization problem on Ubuntu 9.10
Hello,
Precisely what I was trying to do a pseudo dual boot but without success, I keep on whether you succeed or not. But I have installed the virtual machine without any problem and I can run different operating system without any problem now. So, which is the virtual machine that you are using. I use the one which is provide by the sun microsystems and would recommend you the same.
Re: Windows 7 Virtualization problem on Ubuntu 9.10
Hello,
On my USB port problem, I found a parade that is my most advanced track even if it is not 100% functional. Let me explain, to see my USB device connected at any time when I'm on my VM in full screen (no access to the interface then Ubuntu or VirtualBox), I created a division between my host and My guest on the Media folder (or appear devices, CD and diskette). As explained previously, I have two types of sessions in GDM, I and my Ubuntu VM Direct. In the first case, if I run my Ubuntu session and then if I run my VM and VirtualBox, the system operates smoothly. In the second case (the VM is launched directly in full screen via scripts), for reasons that escape me, sharing is created and available, but USB devices connected refuse to appear. So, what should I do now.
Re: Windows 7 Virtualization problem on Ubuntu 9.10
Hello,
If in your virtual machine you specified Automount's all USB devices it detects that i should mount them directly into Windows. I think I had read somewhere that there is a bug in Ubuntu regarding this. After it is possible that this line does not exist in Ubuntu but it may be an avenue to explore. I think you can also dual boot if you need both the operating system. Rather this would be a good choice for you.
