Re: Importing contacts from an Excel file

Firstly it is necessary that in Excel you put in the headers (Name, email, etc etc ...) and especially that you have named the area to import. Attention no merged cells or other close contact with seizures of 2 different lines, it must file either a very simplistic containing only data. Then in File Menu, Import and export.

To import contacts from a CSV file or from Excel into Outlook:
  • In File -> Import and Export
  • select the desired file.
  • Select the Outlook folder you want to import the contacts to. This will usually be your Contacts folder.
  • Click OK.
  • Now click Finish.

In Excel

Select ALL the import data and the row headers, click in the "Name" Excel (where the address appears pointer cell A1), type (not too strong) any name and press [Enter]. Save the file and exit Excel.

In Outlook

File Menu, Import and export, Import from another program or file, Next, Microsoft Excel, Next, Browse to select the file, Ok Choose the options you want no-duplication, Next, Choose destination folder, Next, Check the box that you named above and click the button Custom Fields so as to match your headers to Excel with the field names in Outlook.

Re: Importing contacts from an Excel file

In 99% of cases, you have a field in Excel is called "Name" and Outlook does not involve the proper scope of contacts.

By default, the Name field Excel is associated with HEADING "Name" column that contains itself the "Name" field, the latter you must use or lose contact names when importing. Drag the field Name the left column on the field Name the right hand column (not the topic that includes a [+] or [-] before !!!), once all the associations made, click OK then Finish to start importing.
