Did you made the bootable USB? which application you using to make USB bootable? To boot from USB first is necessary to make USB drive as bootable, untill u make it botable you can't boot from it. Many applications available to make USb bootable. Search for them.
Re: Repair windows vista with a USB key
First open the flash drive to Optimize for performance mode. Right click on the drive in Explorer Windows and the command the Properties select context. Change to the tab Hardware. Select the USB stick again, and then click on Properties. Switch to the tab Policies in the following dialog box. Now select the Optimize for Performance and click 'OK'. This change can be applied only after restarting the computer.
Re: Repair windows vista with a USB key
Use the WinToFlash, to burn the windows vista on your usb falsh drive. WinToFlash starts a wizard that will help extract the contents of a Windows installation CD or DVD and preparing the USB drive to become a substitute starter for the optical drive. Alsow It can do this with your LiveCD. You do not have to worry about the scratches on the disc or wrong its medium original discs once they transfer their contents to the flash drive. The optical drive is fast becoming a thing of the past, especially in office environments, as the media moves to the cloud.
Re: Repair windows vista with a USB key
Do you have a license copy of a windows to burn it on USB? will be better if you confirm it once. And after this , with the help of application as one mention above i.e WinToFlash, burn windows on usb and make usb drive bootable , also refer to this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/1078513.htm
Re: Repair windows vista with a USB key
Format your USB flash drive and installed the boot files onto it, the next thing that you must do is to configure your PC to allow you to boot from the flash drive. This is all done through the computer's BIOS Setup. Then configure windows on USB drive using PEBuilder utility.
