Insert logo into System Properties in Windows 7
Okay I just installed Windows 7 32 bit edition on this Sony Laptop of mine. And everything is working fine with it without any problem. I just got one small query, which is how to add a logo to System Properties.?
I knew it, but in Windows XP and have forgotten now.
So can someone please help me out over here.
Re: Insert logo into System Properties in Windows 7
Well yes its pretty easy. You just need to make some changes in the registry and that will sort it out for you.
Place your logo named say logo.bmp into "C:\Windows\system32\oobe\info\"
Create a TXT file and paste this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation]
"Manufacturer"=""
"Model"=""
"SupportPhone"=""
"Supporthours"=""
"SupportURL"=""
"Logo"="C:\\Windows\\system32\\oobe\\info\\badge.bmp"
Save and change the extension from .txt to .reg, double click on your newly made reg file to merge it into the registery and thats it.
Re: Insert logo into System Properties in Windows 7
Well I tried the steps mentioned above, but was not able to get the logo.
I didn't get any error message nor did my computer froze at any point.
I mean it acted as if there was no change made to the computer.
I will try it once again, but later now I got to go.
And one last doubt. Can I add any custom message if I want. I mean with the logo can I add any message.?
Re: Insert logo into System Properties in Windows 7
Well try the code once again and see if it works. Because the code mentioned above is correct. And it should work fine as well. Make sure that you are saving the file with .reg extension and then double click the file other wise it will not merge with the original registry file.
And if want to add any custom message then follow the given instruction
"Manufacturer"=""
"Model"=""
"SupportPhone"=""
"Supporthours"=""
"SupportURL"=""
The code given above is the part of previous code and you have to replace '=' with any custom message which you want and that will show the message which you enter.
Re: Insert logo into System Properties in Windows 7
I know this thread is old, but the missing detail to adding logos and system information is the need to create the folder "Info" first.
CD C:\windows\system32\oobe
md info
Then copy the *.bmp to this directory and run the *.reg file.
I have created a batch file to do this and it now works fine.
