I have searched in the add / remove programs within the control panel but could not find it. Although i have not installed the ask toolbar why my search is directed to results from the ask.com. Can any body help me to solve this ask toolbar problem?
Re: Problem with Ask search tool
To remove it you must check in the add/remove programs utility withiin the control panel and see whether you have something related to the ask toolbar click the remove button adjacent to it. This will remove the ask search toolbar from you system. Hence you can now get your search directed to the google or the websites of your choice.
Re: Problem with Ask search tool
Removing the ask search toolbar is not a good choice. Your searches are directed to some other websites because your home page is set to that website which would have changed when you have installed the ask search toolbar. So to get your home page directed to a particular website change your home page to the website of your choice from the internet options of the internet explorer browser.
Re: Problem with Ask search toolbar
You have mentioned din the post that you cannot find it in the add/remove program utility. In Internet Explorer, do the following to unhide the Toolbar:
1. Go to the "View" menu at the top of your browser
2. Select "Toolbars"
3. Click "Ask Toolbar" to unhide the Ask Toolbar
If at some point you uninstalled the Ask Toolbar, and you are using a Microsoft browser, you may experience difficulty seeing it right away if you attempt to re-install it. The easiest way to make the Toolbar reappear is to close and restart your Web browser.
Re: Problem with Ask search toolbar
This type of problems appear not because of the search toolbar but because your homepage has been changed. Internet Explorer allows you to change your browser home page at any time. In the Internet Explorer browser address bar, select "Tools" and then "Internet Options" from the drop down menu. Type your desired home page in the "Home Page" section in the top of the window. I hope that this will solve all your problems.

* Under the "Programs" icon, select "Uninstall a program"
* Select the program with the Ask logo and the text "Ask Toolbar"
* Click "Uninstall" and then "Continue" to remove the Toolbar
