Wired vs. Wireless Broadband
I have a Airtel Wired Broadband Connection through cisco router, it gives upto 1 Mbps bandwidth. I am planning to switch to Airtel Wireless Broadband. Is this a good choice? Anyone using Airtel Wireless Broadband service? Does it really give 2 Mbps? I also want to know the difference between Wired Broadband and Wireless Broadband.
Re: Wired vs. Wireless Broadband
Wired LANs use Ethernet cables and network adapters. There are an increasing number of Wi-Fi hotspots to use your wireless connection (and technologies emerging such as WiMax to extend the range). Although two computers can be directly wired to each other using an Ethernet crossover cable, wired LANs generally also require central devices like hubs, switches, or routers to accommodate more computers.
Re: Wired vs. Wireless Broadband
Wireless Broadband is a technology that provides high-speed wireless internet and data network access over a wide area.Wireless internet is based on Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) technology which operates through radio frequencies. Airtel Wireless Internet is an easy way to access the internet without the need for a landline. It allows you to stay in touch whilst being on the move.
Re: Wired vs. Wireless Broadband
For any wired LAN connection, firewalls are first important consideration according to the security point. Wired LANs offer superior performance. According to the 802.16 standard, broadband means 'having instantaneous bandwidth greater than around 1 MHz and supporting data rates greater than about 1.5 Mbit/s. Wireless broadband works by using short-range radio waves to create a small area where your computers can be networked without wires – most wireless networks are no bigger than a house, although larger ones are possible.
Re: Wired vs. Wireless Broadband
In order for wireless broadband to work, a wireless router must be connected to the modem. Wireless is able to support all applications while offering the entire bandwidth for balancing upstream and downstream packet traffic.
Re: Wired vs. Wireless Broadband
WiMax should cost lees than wired broadband, but unfortunately not....:(
ISPs are cheating us:angry:
