Windows 7 upgrade Error code: 0x583
I am currently using Windows Vista Service Pack 1 which is 64-bit. I am unable to upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 64-bit thanks to an unknown error. No sooner does the up-gradation process starts then the error:
Quote:
Windows Setup experienced an unexpected error. To install Windows, restart the installation. Error code: 0x583
. Now this is abstracting me from up-grading my operating system.
Re: Windows 7 upgrade Error code: 0x583
Check the installation CD of Windows 7. Might be there are some scratches on it. Use a disc cleaner to clean the CD for any dust or dirt. Try using another CD for installing Windows to check if it works or not. Also make sure that the CD/DVD writer is working. Use some other CD/DVD writer to upgrade Windows. It seems that it is either an issue with the installation CD or the CD/DVD writer.

I also faced a similar kind of error message when I tried to upgrade my system from Windows Vista to Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. The error message would ask me to restart the installation again. But every time it would display the same error message. I then inserted the Windows Vista CD and selected the Repair option to fix if any errors in Vista that prohibited the upgradation and it helped me. After that I again tried to upgrade and it worked for me.
Re: Windows 7 upgrade Error code: 0x583
A proper solution can be that you can go for a complete install of Windows 7 rather than upgrading from Windows Vista. Take the back-up of all your required data. Format the hard drive completely and then you may install Windows 7 alone rather then going for the upgradation process. Might be the Windows Vista is corrupted which is not allowing the Windows to upgrade.
