How to configure wifi for Samsung Star?
I bought this new phone, Samsung Star and I am not able to configure WiFi for my phone. I detected the router for WiFi as given in the manual and I saved the router profile. I have a NETWORK KEY for my router, but my phone did not give an option to enter the NETWORK ID. The router gives a DHCP IP whereas my phone does not get that IP address. I am also not able to delete this existing profile that I have saved in Samsung Star . So, anybody please help to configure WiFi for Samsung Star.

Re: How to configure wifi for Samsung Star?
I would suggest you to use some other phone for WiFi, probably a 3G phone, that is NOKIA 5230. Its cost is $200 and is very good if you differentiate it with your Samsung Star. You will not have any problem to configure WiFi in this phone as in Samsung Star. Its OS is SYMBIAN and has a great resolution , good quality DVD recording, GPS, etc. You will find it very much worthfull than Samsung Star if you purchase NOKIA 5230.
Re: How to configure wifi for Samsung Star?
star wifi has a problem . it is not able to fetch the ip address in Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) configuration mode … if you know your IP settings and ur dns server it is easy to connect .
when you connect to a new wifi network you are asked to enter the details.
fill in the encryption type.
fill in the encryption bits (64 or 128 )
SET Name : “wifi connection name” (automatic filled)
Bearer type : Wi-Fi (automatic filled)
SSID : “wifi connection name” (automatic filled)
Auth Type : Open
Encryption Type : WEP
Key Length : 64 bits or 128 bits**
Index ID : 1
Network Key : **
Protocol : HTTP
Home URL : http://
Proxy address : “leave blank”
Linger Time (sec) : 300
Adhoc : off
advance setting
now click on advance settings
and enter an ip address of ur series (normally 192.168.1.XX or 192.168.0.xx)
inter the sub net mask as
255.255.255.0
enter server add
(normally 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1)
then enter the static dns server add
(provided by ur internet provider eg Airtel,BSNL etc )

Re: How to configure wifi for Samsung Star?
HELP!!! I too have bought a Samsung Star (today actually) for my daughter. When I got the phone home, it automatically detected the home WiFi network, but the phone did not give an option to enter the NETWORK ID. So I saved this profile and have been struggling ever since to DELETE or AMEND it. I now know from this site, all the configurations necessary BUT I am unable to delete this originally saved profile. I have been to the NETWORK CONNECTIONS section under Settings and deleted every saved connection setting. Then keyed in manually the correct home Wifi router setting - and though this is saved in the NETWORK CONNECTIONS page...the WiFi page will automatically try (and obviously) fail to connect to the home Wifi. PLEASE HELP AS THE PHONE IS A BIRTHDAY PRESENT :-(
