Folders in all the drives are automatically hidden
Hello everyone, please suggest a solution to my problem. My folders in all the drives are automatically hidden. I can open the folder from the address bar because I know the name of some folders as E:\my stuff. It first started in my computer, then it infected my flash drive also. I then had my computer formatted, but the problem continues. I am not aware what type of infection it is, whether it came from the internet or elsewhere. I cant find the name of the virus in any of the antivirus too, had my computer and flash drive scanned. Please help....
Re: Folders in all the drives are automatically hidden
Hey, this virus hacks into the registry and automatically hides all the folders. You need to follow the simple steps.
First go to start, then RUN and type cmd
End the Explorer Task: taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
The archives a1.bat and autorun.inf Dir/ah need to be checked.
Their attributes are to be altered as atrrib -h -r -s a1.bat and atrrib -h -r -s autorun.inf .
Then delete both the files.
Thus, your hidden files settings are changed. Everything will be as good as before.
Re: Folders in all the drives are automatically hidden
Hey the files which are being automatically hidden is caused by a virus which can be removed by the following steps.
You need to go to start, select RUN and type regedit and click OK.
Next in regedit, move through HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced.
Then, right click on hidden and select modify.
Alter the value to 1 and save changes by clicking OK.
Re: Folders in all the drives are automatically hidden
Hello, the name of the virus which automatically hides all your folders is console.exe. The file can be seen in Windows Vista as 64console.exe.autorun.inf, etc. Kindly be careful when you open the folders because the virus duplicates all the folders and spreads if you click on it.
