Re: Windows 7 can't access 2nd hard drive
I had the same problem and saw an answer on another forum which suggested connecting the 2nd HDD on the IDE 2 cable (the cable normally connecting CD/DVD drives. I tried this and the 2nd drive was revealed, I then connected the 2nd HDD to the IDE 1 cable again it was identified, best of luck.
Re: Windows 7 can't access 2nd hard drive
I was having issues with my system so I opted to re-install Windows 7. I have 3 hard drives (one for my operating system/programs and the other two for documents and media), all of which are exactly the same as prior to the install. After the re-install Windows 7 wants to format the drive in order to use it. Clearly I don't want to do that as I have files on them. Any suggestions?
Re: Windows 7 can't access 2nd hard drive
Obtain:
spfdisk.exe
smartdrv.exe
mouse.com
extcd.sys
windows 98 start disk image
Windows cannot recognize drive id's other than its own, windows it tank u.
By whatever device I.e. Win image, ultra iso, etc., extract autoexec and config from image and write for exctcd.sys (lh %ramd%:\mscdex.exe /d:mscdoo1 -becomes extcd001 /l:%cdrom%
---config-- oakcrom.sys /d:mscd001 - becomes extcd.sys /d:extcd001
ramdrive size 2048 - becomes 32767
add files to image or put spfdisk on cdrom.
add lh line for smartdrv in autoexec if desired
re-inject autoexec and config to image
once assembled as format 2.88 meg disk size win 98 disk make as boot.ima and use to start the computer, second hjard drive in.
opem spfdisk and delete ntfs partition on SECOND HARD DRIVE and exit out saVING TO Hard idsk.re-open spfdisk and make dos primary or secondary partition on hard drive then add logical partition(s). CHANGE DRIVE ID ON LOGICAL PARTITION(S) TO 07. exit out, saving to hard disk, Restart computer and format new hard drove, quick, in windows 7. Backiup disk now available.
Re: Windows 7 can't access 2nd hard drive
Right-click Computer, and select "Manage", select "Storage", select "Disk Management" snap, make sure the disk is not black and blue, may need to be allocated and assigned.
Windows 7 can't access 2nd hard drive
Have you tried to use disk manager because maybe you need to give it a drive letter because, when I got a new hard drive windows 7 said I needed a drive letter to be able to use it.
You need to go into disk manager and give it a drive letter.I had the same problem with an external hard drive.I had to format and give it a drive letter.
Hope this helps :ohyeah: :thumbup1:
Re: Windows 7 can't access 2nd hard drive
On disk recommendation.
Installed older HD, prepared and signed
by x86 system. Disk management
displayed, but offered refresh; and I
believe, view.
Disk is chump, but offers complete
partition and drive allocation. Further, disk
will pre-boot brain dead SATA, to control-
alt-delete, at insert Windows system; to
correct load. Disk is monkey IT, of much
reduced and back engineered Hirens
(public license); with only those two x64
SATA functions in mind. ---DAM

Can you please specify in proper details, what kind of issue you are facing? With the broken words that you have written, it is very hard to understand what you were trying to do exactly?
