Can Windows 7 run on Compaq Evo D310
I have HP Compaq Evo D310 Desktop with the following specification:
- P4 2.53 GHz
- 1 GB RAM DDR1 333 MHz.
- The chipset is an Intel 845G?
- Hard disk 120 GB ATA 7200 rpm.
- Graphics Card Integrated Intel 845G.
- A DVD recorder
I heard that Windows 7 is less greedy than Vista and it can even run on eeepc. I have tried Vista on my computer but it was unusable, so I was wondering if I could install Windows 7 and work with it. What do you think? Can Windows 7 run on Compaq Evo D310 desktop computer?
Re: Can Windows 7 run on Compaq Evo D310
I suggest you to download and install "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor" to find out. Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor scans not only your computer but also installed programs and devices to see if it's ready for Windows 7, and tells you about any known compatibility issues. Simply launch it and follow the directions.

By disabling the graphical effects it will turn on (as with Vista if you also remove the effects, I have a P4 machine similar to yours with Vista on it and it is fast). But what are your interests? The new Windows (from presentation) is for the functions of modern machines and not for a machine running P4. It is better to stick with Windows XP.

Thank you for your response. I know that RC trial would not expire until next year and so I just wanted to test it on my machine if I would buy a version of Windows 7 to be sure for another machine much later. I have heard that Windows 7 is more robust and more secure than Windows XP. So I think that switching to it would be beneficial and quite logical.
