MSI Wind U210-010 Netbook
They are legion in the Atom netbooks. Rarely has a processor as is unanimous on one segment. With virtually no choice: for a netbook, it's Atom N270 at 1.6 GHz and enough. In other words, when there is a netbook running another architecture, our eyes light up with curiosity. With the same question: what happens to AMD challenger to distract the Atom?
In the MSI U210 netbook, AMD Athlon MV-40 Neo is clocked, as the N270, at 1.6 GHz. The AMD certainly supports 64-bit and virtualization technologies, but it must be admitted that this does not really count in a netbook.
MSI is not the first comer in the world of netbooks, but after a wind that had caused a sensation, it must be admitted that the mark was somewhat left behind by his two brothers Taiwanese Asus and Acer.
With a simple design and roundness, the U210 is a nice machine that has the format with 11.6 inches. Anything bigger than a basic netbook, this size gives a much better typing comfort (wider keyboard) and reading (screen resolution of 1366x768 pixels instead of 1024x600 pixels).

Suitable equipment
With HDMI and small Radeon card, the U210 is located between netbook and CULV. The Radeon Xpress 1270 is not a racing machine, but enough to make the display Flash animations or Google Earth smoother than an Atom.
The keyboard is good: the buttons are large and angular, the correct key. We would have preferred more of keys spaced to the Sony/Apple. The screen is of the same type, in the average but not the brightest around.
The Athlon: more reactive than the Atom
It is the power of the Athlon Neo against the Intel Atom: the MV-40 is better. If the software for measuring performance is at test, it feels as with most applications, in addition to the casting time reduced, the machine suffers less when multiple windows are open. We're not in a Core 2 Duo, but the difference with the Atom is significant.
More greedy
The first machine we've had in my hands with such a processor was the HP DV2: a beautiful machine, thin, light, which heated as a bread oven and kept under two hours without the charger. MSI has done a much better job than its competitors as regards the heat. Good point on that side. MSI could not do anything else that they add a large (and heavy) battery. The U210 can, therefore, 2 hours 15 minutes with screen background (not a luxury), by capturing two streams music, with flickering flash ads everywhere. It's just too little.

Re: MSI Wind U210-010 Netbook
Conclusion
AMD makes good processors for desktop but shows once again, with its Athlon MV-40, it has trouble with mobile processors. Unless included batteries with higher capacity and/or better quality, it is very difficult to stand up to an Atom. The performance gain does not justify the loss of both autonomies.
