Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I am running Windows Vista and am trying to move a Virgin NTL email account on my laptop. I have set each and every setting with the same information and I am able to receive email but I cannot send emails and gives me an error message that says "The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account: 'Sayeeds Email', Server: 'smtp.ntlworld.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10013, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E". I have searched many forums for a solution but couldnt find it. So I am hoping that some folks from here could solve the issue for me. Thanks.

I dont think that just by changing the SMTP port number will work for you. You need to put in the port that is supported or given by your internet service provider. In any case I think that the mail server supported for you should be only port 25 for SMTP service. At the time you got the error message then was your internet connection obtained from Virgin?

You can try to make sure that you have send authentication enabled and to do this you have to go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers and here you have to enable the "My server requires authentication" option. If that doesnt work then incase you have installed Mcafee or Norton antivirus then immediately remove it because these both are incompatible with Windows Mail. After that you can choose to install the free edition of Avast antivirus.
