The mp4 is audio and mpeg4 is video format. Mpeg4 is the forth type of MPEG video format. Mp4 are the advanced video format which have better quality and can play both audio and video files. Mp4 files are used in portable media players to play videos.
Mp4 is extension for MPEG-4 Part 14 files. MPEG-4 Part 14 is a multimedia container format standard specified as a part of MPEG-4. It is used in digital audio and digital video streams. It can also be used to store other data such as subtitles and still images. MPEG-4 Part 14 allows streaming over the Internet. MP4 is advanced type of MP3 as mp3 is audio files but mp4 contains both audio and video.
Mpeg4 is an audio video codec. It is designated a standard for a group of audio and video coding formats and related technology agreed upon by the ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG). Mpeg4 can be used in compression of AV data for web and CD distribution, voice (telephone, videophone) and broadcast television applications. Features of mpeg1 and mpeg2 are added in Mpeg4 with new features such asVRML support for 3D rendering, object-oriented composite files, support for externally-specified Digital Rights Management and various types of interactivity.
