How to upgrade gateway mp8708 memory to 4gb ram?
How to Upgrade Memory for Gateway MP8708 Laptop. I will not pretend like I know too much on the spec side of computers, but I was just wondering about a graphic card upgrade for my stock Gateway MP8708. The Gateway MP8708 Laptop takes the PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM SODIMMs. Memory Type, and comes installed with 2.0 GB (removable) of Memory. Is it possible to upgrade this memory to 4 GB ?

If so, you will have to take the system apart to analyze and target the part of the system which is not thoroughly connected. It may be something from an improperly seated memory card to a simple ribbon cable becoming disconnected. For best Laptop performance use the maximum amount of allowed Memory per slot for your Laptop. Choose the following Memory Upgrade for Gateway MP8708 Laptop. The only way to find out is to take it apart and put it back together, making sure that everything is connected properly.

Using all the dim slots sometimes requires more volts and there is no guarantee that you will be able to run the RAM at it's rated speed. If you happen to own the same PC as mine with Raid Ready then just FYI Macrium Reflect paid version works. A lot of Emulators have a huge advantage when you are using a 64-bit OS because the game systems themselves run 64-bit.
For example on my board I have 8GB of g.skill 1100mhz. With 4GB it runs at it's rated speed. But it simply will not run above 895mhz in an 8GB configuration.

It's bad if you are heavily overclocking and trying to eek out every percent of performance. But practically, more ram is better. It's not really an issue how many slots the memory is in. If the audio hardware does not have MCE compatible drivers, it will still work, the same way it works in other XP versions. It just won't be detected as compatible in the Media Center application itself, and you can't use the special audio features in the Media Center application itself. Any advantages to less slots is purely academic.
