The modem which you got is locked and it is possible to unlock the same. For that you will need to edit the deviceinfo.xml file. This file is located in the modem and editing the same might allow the entire usb to except all types of sim card. For that you will need to overwrite the file <item name="WCDMA" Alias="" SMMode="PDU" ProductNet="WCDMA" SimUnlock="Y">" change it to <item name="WCDMA" Alias="" SMMode="PDU" ProductNet="WCDMA" SimUnlock="N"> and then save the same. But this right protected so might not able to change it. So simply copy paste it if you want.
